Obtaining Inbound Links, The Ultimate Fight! (Part 4)
Real Strategies
Last time we concluded that working ‘with’ the search engines is the smart tactic when doing anything with internet marketing – period. If you try to cheat the system, you only end up wasting a lot of time having to retool.
So what is the secret of working with the search engines? Giving them lots of unique content – period. If you resign yourself to this now, you will save yourself a world of grief and frustration later.
Let’s steer this discussion back to talking about obtaining Inbound Links.
The highest prized item on the Internet is "________ ________!"
"Unique Content"
Feeding quality, unique content to a hungry internet population segment is a sure recipe for success. And, this is what all sites want to give to their visitors – it keeps their visitors coming back for more and that eventually translates into increased revenue.
But, quality, unique content takes some time to produce – and many site owners/managers just don’t have the time.
This is where you have an opportunity. Give the site owner what he wants to give to his customers – access to quality, unique content.
Let me give you an example how this may play out…
Write/Email/Phone/Fax the target site owner/manager (where you want him to put an Inbound Link on his site to yours) and offer him some relevant free content for his site in exchange for an Inbound Link back to your site. You are appealing to his greatest need. Do you see how powerful this can be? You don’t have to beg, scrape or grovel – you come to the table with some power – you’ve got the content and in internet-land, content rules.
Are you getting the idea? It’s really quite simple if you think about it.
There are a couple tactical variances of this method I want to mention.
- You can also post this unique content in a relevant Usenet/Forum leaving behind a signature tag which references your website – give the readers permission to use the content as long as they link back to your site.
- You could submit your unique content in article form to article submission sites – website managers/owners routinely scour them for content for their sites. In the biographical section of the article, reference that the readers can get more great content from your site – and give the url (an Inbound Link).
There are a couple of not-so-obvious benefits of creating and distributing content:
- It brands your site as an authoritative site in your niche.
- Lots of original, unique content is a huge barrier to entry for other sites vying for your position in your niche – it’s a hard act to follow because it takes time to do and most people don’t want to put in the effort.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this series about Inbound Linking strategies.
